Borrowing Privileges
Registered and active AeU users can borrow our physical book and granted access to our digital library. Please refer to Library Membership for borrowing privileges. Visitors and Exchange Students are not eligible to borrow any library materials.
How to Borrow
You will need a valid library card (your student or staff card) to borrow items. Bring the book and your library card to the Self-check machine and check it out yourself. If you experience problems, please refer to the librarian for assistance. You can also bring the book to the Library Counter and librarian will issue the book to you.
Your Library Account
Log in to your account in our Library catalogue to check the items you have borrowed, when the items are due, fines outstanding or even to renew the items.
Renewals
A loan can be renewed twice (2 times) and renewals must be done at least one day before the due date. Users need to bring the book physically if you wish to further borrow the items. Please note that the new loan period begins from the day of renewal, not from the original due date. Though, renewals will not be allowed if:
Returns
Loaned items must be returned via our Library Circulation Counter. We open daily. Please refer to our operating hours Please return your items on or before the due date or time as other users may want to use them and to avoid fines.
Hold Request
If an item that you require is currently on loan (borrowed by someone else),
you may request to place a hold on the item, and you will be on the waiting list if others have
requested the same item ahead of you.
Requests for hold must be placed online via the Library catalogue.
Click on the Title that you wish to place a hold, and under the ‘Hold’ view, enter your ID number and enter the required information. Then, click ‘Place Hold’. In the "Items" view, click the "Request" button next to the item you would like to hold
Note: You can only place ‘Holds’ for items that are on loan. Items with the status ‘Available’ cannot be requested.
You will be notified via email or you can check the status of the requested item in your library account online.
Requested items will be held at the Lending Services desk after the item becomes available. Be sure to check your request status
in My Account.
Overdue items & fines
If you do not return or renew items before the due date, they will become overdue. The library charges fines on overdue items, to encourage users to return items on time (RM0.30 per day per item). The Library will send you 3 times online notifications via your registered email informing you that an item is overdue. You are advised to check your library account regularly. Fines must be paid at the circulation counter. Students are blocked from borrowing when an item becomes overdue.
Lost and Damaged Items
If you have lost or damaged a library item, please report it immediately to the library. The user will make a replacement copy (being the latest edition at the time of loss) at his/her own expense, or undertake to pay the current market price of the latest edition of the lost item, in addition to RM30.00 processing fee and fines due till the day that the loss was reported.
